It's nothing against you Kurt, we've just heard Art's stuff before. (and debated the merits of the videos as well)

He just seems to pop up every 3 months or so. Some of the guys here are just over it.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Now I know why I've always admired you Louie!! Kurt - my original post was not directed at you mate, but at Art and his HORRIBLE playing. If I wanted to listen to such an awful racket, I would go and find a construction site and sit there listening to loud, grating, annoying drills all day!!
Failing that, I could set fire to a pet shop and take in the joyus sound that would make!!

forums

.....now would one of you please wake me up when he's finished?

OK. Yeah, there's been extensive talk of Verdi in the past in here.

I have nothing against the guy. I think he shows great finger control technq relating to the single stroke & other rudimental applications. And, like Mangini & maybe even Chambers, that 1-handed [LH] roll he does is also technically impressive enough.

However, i also realize that some guys in here feel that he is focused too much on this one very thing & not enoough on "being musical & playg in a group setting," as there never seems to be any musical interaction clips. Guys like Weckl, Vinnie, et al, have great technq according to themselves, but are also extremely musical & can lay waste with phrasing AW in a musical context & group setting.

It'd be nice to hear him rip it up with a big band ensemble to get a proper perspective. This would either stifle the naysayer, or vindicate a few folks in here. Not that this matters that much. But in & of itself, it's fine technq AFA executing a SS roll. But the novelty seems to wear off quickly with some players.

Personally, tho, I'd rather listen to the lot of the cats in here that have posted their mp3s.

But you are right, Kurt, when you said "Now this guy got some singles"

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">lol - Yeah, a cat with scrambled eggs for brains as a result of a 5A would be a terrible waste. Funny perhaps, life of the dull party maybe, but a waste nonetheless. I'm talking about wild street cats [the ones that the crazy neighbor feeds constantly, that whizzes on your boat cover & front porch, that you'd like to take on a little drive to a field in another county], not declawed couch-tater/counter sitter fluffy at home. Does Art have a flat-headed kitty named 'Horizon' [or 'Parallel']? Oh dear, I digress.
